Room I: Spiegelgesetz – Deconstruction & Reflection
In the first space, large, mirror-polished metal plates offer an image of whoever stands before them, until Franzen violently interrupts it. Striking the metal with axes and gunshots, he tears into the surfaces, twisting and fracturing the viewer's reflection into a shattered mosaic. The distorted mirror forces us past our surface ego to confront the raw, unacknowledged layers beneath.
Room II: Each Line One Breath – Presence & Evolution
The second space offers a profound shift into radical discipline and stillness. In his iconic series Each Line One Breath, Franzen draws every single line in complete synchronization with a single breath. Because human hands have natural micro-imperfections, these tiny variations compound over hundreds of lines, causing straight strokes to morph into hypnotic, undulating waves reminiscent of water, light, and natural geometry.
Two Paths to the Same Truth
Though radically different in medium, both series originate from the same search for essential truth. In one room, the surface is shattered by force; in the other, it is built breath by breath. Together, they form a complete dialogue: Spiegelgesetz breaks through who we pretend to be, while Each Line One Breath reconnects us to the quiet rhythm of what we actually are.
