John Franzen (b. 1981, Germany) was raised in a countercultural environment marked by constant relocation and silence. Free from conventional socialization, artwork, or ideology, his early world was defined by nature and the raw presence of absence. This solitude cultivated a radical autonomy of perception—an acute inner sensing that remains his default interface with reality.
