Holly Hendry: Conglomerates
Current viewing_room
Like rocks and pebbles cemented by pressure and time, these works are conglomerates—disparate parts engineered to bond into a single, tactile body.
The title Conglomerates draws from the geological definition of rounded rocks and pebbles cemented together by pressure and time, a process often fused by the rhythmic flow of rivers. Hendry applies this natural logic to her art, treating her works as "bound molecules."
In this exhibition, sculptures and cyanotypes are not merely objects, but accumulations of simplified shapes and textures engineered to bond into a singular whole. It is a study of how disparate parts, industrial and organic, merge to form a new body.
" The cyanotypes are the direct imprints of the residency—chemical records born from the interaction between my materials and the raw, intense Mediterranean sun of Saint-Paul-de-Vence.
During her mini-residency at Toile Blanche, Hendry has pivoted from her signature monumental scales to a more intimate, process-led practice.
